Publisher and vendor licenses generally do not allow the upload of library resources to a third-party platform like Perusall. The following types of library material are NOT compatible with Perusall:

  • e-books (including individual chapters and entire e-books) from the library
  • journals (including individual articles and entire journal issues) from the library
  • videos from the library
  • scanned material from Interlibrary Loan
  • lengthy portions of in-copyright works
  • reference materials
  • textbooks or e-textbooks that are not licensed directly through Perusall

Instructors may use open-access, public domain resources, and personal course material such as syllabi, assignments, and notes on Perusall. For works under copyright, instructors are responsible for ensuring that their use of Perusall complies with fair use

Perusall does have agreements with some publishers and will work with instructors to acquire textbooks that students can purchase within Perusall.
